Duel Distinction

The cooler-than-average growing season in 2011 gave way to a Duel blend that features higher portions of Shiraz than Cabernet Sauvignon. The resulting wine offers bright, plush fruits with a spicy complexity and more substance and finesse than the previous release. 2011 Duel opens with succulent red fruits– raspberry and plum, balanced by subtle notes of dark espresso and bittersweet chocolate. A familiar thread of allspice, cinnamon and cardamom weaves through the palate and prolongs the enjoyable finish.

Tasting Notes

Grown from two designated blocks on the Darioush estate in Napa Valley and Oak Knoll, Duel is the idyllic marriage of two distinguished varietals: Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz. This unique blend combines the deeply satisfying fruit and earthy minerality of Cabernet Sauvignon with the zesty spice and fresh berry fruits inherently found in Darioush Shiraz..
